Netflix again raised anticipation for the project live-action Last Samurai Standing. The series has gained international attention, including an invitation to the 30th Busan International Film Festival, and will premiere globally on November 13.
The Brutal Premise Behind Last Samurai Standing
Last Samurai Standing is set in the late 19th century during the Meiji period. The story begins as 292 warriors, including the main character Shujiro Saga, gather at Tenryuji Temple in Kyoto. They are all attracted by the promise of a large cash prize. Each participant is given one wooden plaque and must fight in a deadly game to snatch the opponent's plaque and reach Tokyo as the winner.
The production scale of the action scenes was massive. The fight scene at Tenryuji Temple alone involved more than 1,000 cast and crew members over several days of filming. The production team combined modern CG technology with practical effects to present realistic and intense fight scenes.
