NetEase Games and Marvel Games have officially announced new content for Marvel Rivals in a presentation at gamescom Asia and Thailand Game Show. The Super Hero Team-Based PVP Shooter game will get a new time-limited PvE Zombie mode, inspired by the animated series Marvel Zombies.
Zombie Mode in Marvel Rivals
In this game mode, players will be on a mission to infiltrate a zombie-ravaged Midtown New York. Under Khonshu's guidance, players and their teammates have a single objective: find and stop the Queen of the Dead and her plans.
This mode changes the focus of the game from PVP to PVE, where players must work together against waves of AI-controlled enemies.
Handpicked Heroes and Enemies
This mode provides five playable Super Heroes, each equipped with unique abilities specifically designed to take on the zombie hordes.
Here is the list of heroes and their special abilities:
- Thor: Continuous use of the Awakened status.
- Blade: Attack with Moon Blades that can bounce.
- Magik: Enter the Darkchild form indefinitely.
- Jeff: Able to lunge and penetrate the enemy ranks.
- The Punisher: Join the battle against zombies.
In addition to facing endless waves of zombies, players will also face boss battles. Official documents confirm the presence of Zombie Namor and Queen of the Dead as bosses in this mode.
About Marvel Rivals
Marvel Rivals is a team-based PVP Shooter game that lets players choose a hero from three different roles: Vanguard, Duelist, and Strategist. The Team-Up Abilities feature also allows players to unleash combined powers. The project is developed by NetEase's in-house team of global talents who have worked on popular shooter game franchises.
This announcement is part of Game Update which will also include a full Patch Notes release and Hero Balance adjustments to improve the overall quality of the game.
