Official Website for Snowball Earth Anime released a new promotional video that reveals important details about the adaptation. The update played a snippet of the Opening Theme and confirmed the premiere date for Spring 2026.
This teaser video provides a visual depiction of the atmosphere of the post-apocalyptic world that serves as the main setting for the story. In addition to the new visuals, the announcement of the artist who will be performing the theme song is the highlight of this update.
Snowball Earth Anime Synopsis
The story takes place in 2025 when giant monsters from outside the galaxy attack Earth. A huge war broke out and humanity fought back using a giant robot named Yukio. Tetsuo Yabusame becomes the pilot of the robot to fight this threat.
As the alien swarms increasingly push against the human defenses, Tetsuo and the Earth Defense Force are deployed for a final battle. Their efforts end in defeat and Yukio's robot is destroyed in battle. Tetsuo manages to survive using an escape pod and enters a cold sleep phase for eight years.
When the escape pod landed back on Earth, Tetsuo awoke to find the situation had changed completely. He finds a devastated and completely frozen world under a thick layer of ice and snow, a phenomenon referred to as Snowball Earth.
The focus of the story follows Tetsuo's journey in the frozen world to find out the fate of humanity and fulfill his last promise to Yukio.
Theme Song and Viewing Details
One of the main points of this announcement is the involvement of a singer-songwriter named tuki. who will perform the Opening Theme titled “Zero”. The song is briefly heard in the newly released teaser video. This is an important note because the song “Zero” is tuki.'s debut in performing the theme song for an anime production.
Regarding the release schedule, Snowball Earth Anime is confirmed to premiere on the date of April 3, 2026.

The animation production was handled by Studio KAI, previously known for their work in Sentenced to Be a Hero. The Director position is held by Munehisa Sakai, an experienced figure who once directed Zombie Land Saga and One Piece Movie Strong World.

About Snowball Earth
The series is adapted from the manga by Yuhiro Tsujitsugu. The manga was first launched in Monthly Big Comic Spirits owned by Shogakukan publishing house in January 2021. As of December 2025, Shogakukan has published the 10th volume of the compilation book. Viz Media currently holds the license for the English release of this manga.
The story quality of this series has been recognized by many prominent creators in the Japanese creative industry. The manga has received recommendation comments from Hideaki Anno (creator Neon Genesis Evangelion), Hideo Kojima (creator Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding), as well as ONE (creator One-Punch Man and Mob Psycho 100).
