Carl Pei, CEO of Nothing, a London-based gadget company known for its designs glyph unique and antimainstream, spoke in a video on the YouTube channel “Nothing” about the future of the flagship series after the Nothing Phone (3) and the mid-range Nothing phone (3a). With the title “Phone (4a): A New Chapter“, Carl Pei shared many topics ranging from Nothing's achievements in 2025, plans for 2026, including the London HQ move and some recent updates on the tech industry.

Continuation of Nothing Phone Flagship Series (3)

The Nothing Phone (3) is mentioned in the video as Nothing's flagship series phone for 2026, even though it was announced in July 2025. This is in line with the vision of Nothing, which is not to do refresh series each year on the grounds of “just because”. Nothing has so far been quite consistent with its approach, from Phone (1) to Phone (2) which takes approximately 1 year, then Phone (2) to (Phone 3) which takes 2 full years. This approach is done so that the updates from generation to generation can feel more significant.

This is quite a bold move, amidst the onslaught of other multinational brands that routinely release a new series every year to revitalize their brand. hype market to the brand's latest technology. To that end, Carl Pei also mentioned that Nothing has excellent features Essential Apps which allows users to input their own application ideas according to their needs, then the system will make the application come to life. Although it is in the Alpha phase towards the Beta phase, this is one of the supporting points of the Nothing ecosystem itself.

Nothing Phone's New Midrange Series (4a) and New Chief Branding Officer

The Nothing Phone (4a) is also confirmed to be coming soon this year as the latest series which is claimed to be the most sold series in the Nothing ecosystem. This latest series will have expectations of improvement at least from materials, design, to screen/camera. Carl Pei said that this year's Nothing Phone (4a) is targeted to evolve even closer to the true flagship experience. In addition, Nothing's unique design will also remain a unique thing, evolving from generation to generation while still maintaining Nothing's own identity, slowly aimed at a wider audience.

For further escalation of the Nothing brand, Nothing has also recruited the former CMO of Loewe, Charlie Smith. The selection of this figure is also based on Charlie Smith's previous experience who also built Loewe for 7 years from one phase to the next. With evidence of the growth of Loewe itself, Carl Pei also believes that Charlie Smith can provide access to a target audience that suits Nothing.
