The Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association (CESA) together with Nikkei Business Publications and Sony Music Solutions officially announced the schedule for Tokyo Game Show 2026.
Festival game Asia's largest gaming exhibition is entering its 30th year and promises to be different in scale from previous years. Exhibitor registration is also open from today for game developers and publishers who wish to participate.
Tokyo Game Show New Theme and Schedule
With the theme “The Longest Five Days of Nonstop Play”, this year's event will make history. For the first time, the duration of the exhibition has been extended to five full days.
The offline exhibition will be held at Makuhari Messe, Chiba, from September 17 to September 21, 2026. The format of the event remains a hybrid system, combining on-site exhibitions with online initiatives to reach a global audience.
The daily schedule has been specifically divided to accommodate the needs of the industry and fans:
- September 17-18 (Thursday & Friday): Business Day
- September 19-21 (Saturday, Sunday, Monday/Holiday): Public Day
The decision to add a day to Public Day was made to address the problem of overcrowding that often occurs. This move is expected to reduce the long lines at the game demo booths, giving visitors more time to enjoy the available content.
Tokyo Game Show Anniversary Project and Global Expansion
The 30th Anniversary was celebrated with the launch of a limited edition gold logo. This logo symbolizes the three-decade journey of the ever-evolving gaming industry. CESA is also preparing various special projects that will be present at the venue and online platforms to enliven the atmosphere.

This year, a new ticketing system will be introduced. The ticket categories for Business Day and Public Day will have their services adjusted for a more comfortable experience, given the venue's limited capacity.
CESA is also strengthening international promotion to solidify its “Global TGS” position. They plan to add exhibitor briefing locations overseas and participate in other entertainment events outside the regular schedule. This year's target is quite high, with an estimated 300,000 visitors and 3,500 booths that will fill the exhibition area.
