Ubisoft has announced that Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege XUbisoft+, the biggest update in the game's history, will be available for free starting June 10. The update will be available across multiple platforms, including Ubisoft+, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC (including Steam), and Amazon Luna. With various improvements and new modes, Siege X ready to take the gaming experience to a more dynamic and strategic level.
Dual Front: 6v6 Mode
Key features introduced in Siege X is Dual Front, a permanent 6v6 mode that brings a new combat experience. Players will be challenged to secure three enemy sectors while defending their own territory in District, a map exclusive to this mode.
One of the most significant changes is the use of 35 curated operators, in which Attackers and Defenders can be combined into one team. With the combination of their unique gadgets, weapons and abilities, new strategies will be unlocked. In addition, Neutral Sector presents challenges with time-limited missions that can give a strategic advantage to the team that successfully completes them.
This mode also features an operator respawn and repick system, allowing players to adjust strategies during the course of a match. Not only is it friendly to new players, but it also retains the signature tactical elements of Siege. Dual Front will continue to be updated with operator rotations every two seasons as well as mission variations in the Neutral Sector each season.
Visual Enhancements and More Dynamic Gameplay
Ubisoft is delivering a graphical upgrade with improved lighting, shadows, and textures up to 4K. Some classic maps such as Clubhouse, Chalet, Border, Bank, and Cafe will get a visual upgrade at launch, with an additional three modernized maps each season.

In addition, the game environment is now more interactive with new destructive elements such as fire extinguishers, gas pipes, and metal detectors, which can be utilized to create surprise strategies. Rappel navigation is also updated with more responsive controls, allowing players to move horizontally and jump over building corners.
In terms of audio, the sound propagation and reverberation system was updated to improve accuracy in detecting enemy positions based on the sound of steps or other activities. The onboarding feature was also improved with tutorials and field training to help new players understand the basics of the game before jumping into battle.
Anti-Cheat System
Ubisoft introduces R6 ShieldGuardThe new anti-cheat system incorporates all previous security initiatives and introduces new technologies to counteract cheating in real-time without the need for regular maintenance. The system will also continue to evolve with additional features such as an improved reputation system to reduce toxic behavior in the game.
Free Access to Siege X
Start June 10, Rainbow Six Siege will be playable in free. New players can access Dual Front, Unranked, and Quick Play modes, and unlock up to 26 operators through a progression system. Meanwhile, players who opt for premium editions can access Ranked Mode and Siege Cup after reaching level 50, as well as gain instant access to more operators.
For existing players, all previously unlocked content will remain available, including inventory, progression, and operators. As a token of appreciation, they will also get exclusive veteran rewards based on the year they started playing.
RELOAD Esports Beta and Competition
For those who want to try Siege X early, Ubisoft has opened the beta until March 19 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Ubisoft Connect. The beta includes a full experience of Dual Front mode, a roster of 35 operators, as well as a preview of various new features such as destructive elements and rappel improvements.
