Sony Interactive Entertainment has just completed an event State of Play<\/a> February 2026 edition. The hour-plus broadcast was jam-packed with exciting announcements for the PlayStation ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This event feels very special because it balances between nostalgia through remake<\/em> classics, surprising new IP announcements, to a confirmed release date for game<\/a> which has been long awaited. Developers from all over the world showcased their best work for the console.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The most interesting part of the event came from Santa Monica Studio and Konami. Santa Monica delivered a double surprise by confirming the development of remake<\/em> the original God of War trilogy and released the game spin-off<\/em> 2D suddenly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Konami has finally answered the fans' requests stealth action<\/em> with the confirmed release of the second Metal Gear Solid collection that includes the legendary fourth installment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the presence of game adaptations John Wick<\/em> and the return of Castlevania<\/em> in the classic 2D format shows that the gaming industry is aggressively reviving the franchise<\/em> which has a strong fan base on PlayStation. Third-party developers also made a dominant appearance with a variety of genres ranging from shooter<\/em>, RPG, to fighting<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
