Franchise Haruhi Suzumiya has been active again with a number of new projects announced in recent months. Music video trailers, crowdfunding campaigns, voice dramas, and the release of the latest light novel volume are part of the series of activities that many fans are looking forward to.

Haruhi Suzumiya's New MV Trailer Has Been Released

Kadokawa has released a short music video for the latest song from the series Haruhi Suzumiya titled "Invincible(ish) Happiness!".

The trailer features 3D models of Haruhi, Mikuru, and Nagato. The song was composed by Tomokazu Tashiro with lyrics by Aki Hata, who was also previously involved in the song "Hare Hare Yukai".

The full version music video will be released on July 28, 2025, and the song will be available on streaming services on July 29, 2025.

Haruhi Suzumiya Crowdfunding Reaches Fantastic Target

The project originated from a crowdfunding campaign that ran from November 15, 2024 to January 15, 2025. On the first day, the two initial targets were met immediately. The first target of 10 million yen was used for a new song and music video with 3D models of Haruhi, while the second target of 15 million yen added 3D models of Mikuru and Nagato.

The total funds raised reached 86,825,276 yen. After the third target was reached, two additional songs were developed. The first song was composed by Satoru Kōsaki, who previously worked on the background music of the anime The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and the song "God knows...". The second song is by Tsubasa Ito, a composer known from projects such as The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel - Northern War.

Voice Drama and Exclusive Gifts for Supporters

The campaign also includes the production of an original voice drama starring the voice actors of SOS Brigade's main characters. The voice actors involved include Aya Hirano, Tomokazu Sugita, Minori Chihara, Yūko Gotō, and Daisuke Ono.

Physical rewards are scheduled to be sent to supporters in early February 2025, while digital rewards will be distributed in the second half of 2025.

Light Novel Releases Globally

The latest volume of the light novel Haruhi Suzumiya titled The Theater of Haruhi Suzumiya was released globally on November 29, 2024. Kadokawa released the digital version in Japanese and English simultaneously through BookWalker Global and Yen Press.

This volume includes two short stories previously published in the magazine The Sneaker, i.e. Suzumiya Haruhi Gekijō: Fantasy-Hen (August 2004) and Kaete Kita Suzumiya Haruhi Gekijō (June 2006). A new story was also added as a sequel to the two stories.

About Haruhi Suzumiya

Haruhi Suzumiya is a light novel series by Nagaru Tanigawa with illustrations by Noizi Itō. A total of 11 volumes were published between 2003 and 2011. As of 2017, the series has over 20 million copies in print. The English version was published by Yen Press and Little, Brown Books for Young Readers in 10 volumes from 2009 to 2013, and is available in digital format.

Volume The Intuition of Haruhi Suzumiya was released in November 2020 and followed by the English print version in June 2021.

Anime adaptation The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya It first aired in 2006 in a non-linear order, then reaired in 2009 with the addition of new episodes in chronological order. The anime was produced by Kyoto Animation. Movie The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya It aired in 2010 and was released on home video by Bandai Entertainment and Funimation.

The franchise also includes various manga adaptations and spin-offs that were made into anime.
