Rumors about the Bloodborne remake never really went away, especially since many PS4-era games got new versions on PS5. A report quoted from Bloomberg now gives a clearer context: Bluepoint Games is said to have made a pitch for a Bloodborne remake. Sony was reportedly open to the idea, but FromSoftware, who held the creative vision of the game, declined.

Bloomberg report: approved Sony, rejected FromSoftware
According to a summary of a Bloomberg report discussed by the gaming media, Bluepoint submitted a Bloodborne remake plan last year. From the publisher's side, Sony is said to have no objections. The rejection came from FromSoftware, who reportedly did not want the project to go ahead.
This information is interesting because it explains why fan requests for a PS5 or PC version of Bloodborne have been stagnant for years. Until now, Bloodborne has been synonymous with PS4, and even on PS5, the game is generally accessed through backward compatibility, not through remastered or remake versions.
Why Bloodborne is still “locked” on PS4
Bloodborne is one of the most influential titles of its generation, from its gameplay design, gothic horror atmosphere, and action RPG-style progression structure. Many players were hoping for at least a more modern performance upgrade, such as higher frame rates or updated visual quality.
The current state of affairs makes Bloodborne look like an exception as other PlayStation games begin to spread to new platforms and generations. The push from the community is also getting stronger as Bloodborne is one of FromSoftware's most frequently mentioned games worthy of a technical update.
Miyazaki's role and possible creative reasons
The same report also alludes to the context of Shuhei Yoshida's comments in an interview, who once theorized that Hidetaka Miyazaki might want to work on the remake himself. The theory also suggested that Miyazaki was busy and may not have wanted anyone else to handle the project.
It's important to read this section as an interpretation, not a certainty. Still, FromSoftware's rejection of Bluepoint's pitch signals that creative control and internal timing could be a big factor, not just a business decision.
The fact that the Bloodborne remake pitch ever existed means that the idea was seriously discussed, not just a community rumor. On the other hand, the rejection shows that this kind of project depends not only on Sony, but also FromSoftware's approval.
The most realistic hope for now is to wait for an official decision in the future, whether it's a remaster, remake, or port. Until there's an announcement, Bloodborne remains in the same position: a classic game with a high demand for updates, but with no certainty of its next direction.
