An official website has just opened to announce important news regarding Shinji Saijyo's cooking manga. The series titled Iron Wok Jan! has officially gotten the green light for adaptation anime Television.
Based on the announcement, the anime is scheduled to air in 2026. The return of this classic title certainly caught the attention of many culinary anime fans.
Ei Aoki to Direct Iron Wok Jan Anime!
Studio TROYCA is entrusted with the production of this animation. The studio will work under the direction of director Ei Aoki. Aoki's name is well known in the anime industry through his popular works.
Aoki's portfolio includes major titles such as Fate/Zero, Aldnoah.Zero, Bravo Girls, and Wandering Son. This collaboration between a director used to handling intense action genres and the TROYCA studio promises an interesting visual approach to the cuisine genre.
Story Premise and Philosophical Clash
The original story centers on Jan Akiyama, a young genius chef. He works at a high-end restaurant and constantly challenges Kiriko Gobancho. Kiriko is the granddaughter of the restaurant's owner and is also a great chef.
The crux of the conflict in this series lies in their different views. Kiriko believes that dishes should be made with the customer in mind. Jan, on the other hand, believes that cooking is a tool for competition. The dynamic of this rivalry is the main attraction of the story.
Publication of the Iron Wok Jan Manga!
Shinji Saijyo started the serialization of this Iron Wok Jan! (Tetsunabe no Jan!) original manga in the magazine Weekly Shonen Champion owned by Akita Shoten. The manga was published regularly from 1995 to 2000. During that period, Akita Shoten published a total of 27 compilation volumes.

In the English market, ComicsOne published the first 13 volumes between 2002 and 2005. The license was then taken over by DrMaster who published the remaining volumes until 2007.
The popularity of this series has proven to be enormous. The manga franchise has recorded more than 10 million copies on the market. This figure shows how strong the fan base of Saijyo's work is.
Continuation of Sequels and Spinoffs
The franchise continued to grow after the main series ended. Saijyo published the manga Iron Wok Jan! R: The Summit Operations in the same magazine, which was later compiled into 10 volumes.
In addition, there is a spinoff titled Tetsupai no Jan! by Bingo Morihashi that was launched in the magazine Kindai Mahjong owned by Takeshobo in August 2015. Saijyo then launched a successor manga titled Iron Wok Jan!! 2nd in 2017.
