Black Torch, the supernatural action manga by Tsuyoshi Takaki, is officially getting a TV anime adaptation. The announcement was made by VIZ Media during their panel at Emerald City Comic Con.
Synopsis: Shinobi with Supernatural Powers
Black Torch follows the story of Jiro Azuma, a shinobi descendant who has the ability to communicate with animals. He is known to be violent and impulsive, but also has a soft side, especially towards animals.
One day, Jiro meets Rago, a mysterious cat who turns out to be a creature from another world. After an unexpected incident, Jiro gains extraordinary powers, but is also dragged into a hidden conflict between humans and evil spirits.

Anime adaptation Black Torch will be produced by 100Studio, with the main production team as follows:

With Gigaemon Ichikawa, who previously handled the Chained Soldier, as well as Yutaka Yamada, composer of Tokyo GhoulThis anime has the potential to have a strong atmosphere both in terms of story and music.
Publication and Adaptation History
Manga Black Torch was serialized on Jump Square from February 2017 to April 2018, before moving to Shonen Jump+ until its conclusion in July 2018. The series consists of 19 chapters compiled in 5 tankobon volumes.
VIZ Media has published the manga in English, with the first volume released on August 7, 2018.
Anime Adaptation Potential
With the concept of modern ninjas in a spirit world conflict, Black Torch has an appeal to shonen action fans such as Jujutsu Kaisen and Bleach.
Since the manga has a relatively small number of chapters, the anime adaptation could potentially have a more stable pacing without additional fillers. However, the animation execution still depends on 100Studio, which is a new studio in the industry.
