Story Synopsis
Van is the fourth child of a marquis who realized he had been reincarnated at an early age. Armed with knowledge from his previous life, he grew up as a child genius. He was then sent to a remote village that was on the verge of collapse. There, Van saw a great opportunity. With strategy, community cooperation, and production magic, he rebuilt the village into a strong fortified town. This story emphasizes long-term vision and change through hard work, not physical conflict.
Origin and Publication
The full title of the novel is Easygoing Territory Defense by the Optimistic Lord: Production Magic Turns a Nameless Village into the Strongest Fortified City (Okiraku Ryoshu no Tanoshi Ryochi Boei: Seisan-kei Majutsu de Na mo Nakimura o Saikyo no Josai Toshi ni). The novel was written by Sou Akaike and illustrated by Kururi.
The story was first published online at Shosetsuka ni Naro in May 2020, then published in print by Overlap through the Overlap Novels label since September 2021. A manga adaptation by Maro Aoiro has also been running since August 2021 on the site Comic Gardo. The English version of this novel and manga is licensed by Seven Seas Entertainment.
Illustrators Kururi and Maro Aoiro also released celebratory illustrations when the anime announcement was made.
