Once Human will officially launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on August 25, 2026. NetEase Games and Starry Studio announced that the console version of this free-to-play survival game will feature a first-person perspective, cross-play, cross-progression, and several adjustments tailored for the console gaming experience.
This game was previously available on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store on July 9, 2024, and will be available on iOS and Android on April 23, 2025. Along with the console release, Once Human will also be available on PC via Microsoft Store.
Once Human Features a First-Person Perspective
Once Human features an open-world multiplayer survival game set in a post-apocalyptic world. Players take on the role of a Meta-Human—a person who has survived the effects of Stardust and uses their powers to survive in this transformed world.
For the console version, this game introduces a first-person perspective as one of its new features. This feature allows players to switch between third-person and first-person perspectives at any time during gameplay.

Once Human Supports Cross-Play and Cross-Progression
The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of Once Human will support cross-play and cross-progression from day one. With these features, players can play with friends on other platforms and continue their progress across platforms.
On launch day, console players will immediately have access to 6 Scenarios and one PVP Spin-off. This content is said to offer more than 300 hours of gameplay starting from day one.
Each scenario features a different environment and gameplay mechanics. Anomalies are a central part of the gameplay loop, as they can be used to explore the Stardust-infected wasteland, automate shelters, aid in crafting, and support combat.
Pre-Orders for the Once Human Pack Are Now Open
Although Once Human is a free-to-play game, pre-orders for the reward pack are now available on the PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store. The pack includes cosmetic items, a Meta Pass, and other rewards tailored to the player’s platform.

Focusing on Stardust and Deviants
The world of Once Human changed after the emergence of Stardust, an alien substance that infects humans, animals, plants, and the environment. Most humans cannot survive its effects, but Meta-Humans are able to use Stardust’s power to survive.
Players can explore a vast map, face various threats, gather resources, farm, build a base, and store loot. Bases can also be equipped with traps and various facilities to help players survive in dangerous areas.
The game also features Deviants, unique creatures that can assist players in combat, resource gathering, or activities within their territory. Players still need to take care of them so they can continue to help throughout the game.
