SEGA shares some new information for SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance, a 2D action platformer game scheduled for release on August 29, 2025. The information includes a story trailer, character introduction, as well as documentation of the visual production process by the Lizardcube development team.
Story Trailer and Conflict Setting
Official trailer SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance features Joe Musashi, a legendary shinobi, who embarks on a journey after his village is destroyed and his clan is condemned to stone. The antagonist Lord Ruse is introduced as a character directly related to the incident.
Main and Supporting Characters
Five characters in SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance has been introduced through a video trailer released separately as part of the game's promotional materials:

- Character introduction video Tomoe
- Character introduction video Yamato
These five trailers were released through SEGA Asia's official YouTube channel as part of the promotion of characters that have important roles in the storyline.
Visual Creative Process of Lizardcube
In addition to the characters and story, SEGA also released a video behind-the-scenes that shows how the development team built the visual world SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance. This project was done by Lizardcube, a Parisian studio that previously developed Streets of Rage 4.
This video features an explanation from the development team on how they built Joe Musashi's revenge story and the approach used in developing the narrative and characters.
In the second part of the video, Ben Fiquet-Art Director and CEO of Lizardcube-explains how the visual style of SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance influenced by Japanese pop culture. The team used a hand-drawn approach in the visual development of this game.
Digital Releases, Platforms, and Details
SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance will be released digitally for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. Pre-orders are available at the discounted price of 10% until August 29, 2025 at 11:59 AM (UTC+8). The special PlayStation discount applies only to PlayStation Plus subscribers.
The game is available in two digital versions: Standard Edition and Digital Deluxe Edition. No physical version is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Steam. Supported subtitles include Japanese, English, Korean, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese. The game is scheduled for digital release on August 29, 2025 across multiple platforms.
