A big announcement came from the Aniplex Online Fest 2025 event. Aniplex officially introduced project anime latest original titled Inherit the Winds. For those of you looking forward to a new story, this announcement is certainly a breath of fresh air. Here is a breakdown of the information that has been revealed.
Story in Inherit the Winds
Inherit the Winds takes you to Kyoto in June 1863, placing the story in the tumultuous Bakumatsu era. The main focus is Jinsuke Tachikawa, a young man found with no memory of his past. He is brought to the headquarters of the Mibu Roshigumi, the forerunner of the Shinsengumi, and welcomed by vice-captain Okita Soji.
Jinsuke is then given a new name and begins his life as a member of the army. Visual teasers and the first trailer released alongside the announcement have also featured both main characters.
The Creative Team Behind the Project
The position of original creator and scriptwriter is held by Yutaka Narui. Project It was animated through a collaboration between Live2D Creative Studio and Drive, the studio known for its KonoSuba: God's blessing on this wonderful world! Season 3 and Tying the Knot With an Amagami Sister.
Tomohiro Kawamura (Miru: Paths To My Future) acted as director. Other main staff members include Fumi Ebina as the character designer and Shigeru Kishida, who is known for the opening song Real Girl, as a music composer.
Unique Animation Style with Live2D
One of the most interesting technical aspects of project this is Live2D Creative Studio's involvement in a major animation production line. Live2D technology is commonly known for animating 2D illustrations to create smooth character movements, often used in video games and for VTuber models.
