Franchise Sailor Moon will get a new permanent theater stage in Tokyo under the name of Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Shining Theater Shinagawa Tokyo. The show, scheduled to open in April 2026, is an expansion of a previous concept that ceased operations due to the pandemic, now returning with a new format and location.

Resurrection of Shining Moon Tokyo

This new initiative is an extension of Bishojo Senshi Sailor Moon -Shining Moon Tokyo-, a restaurant-theater that opened in August 2019 in the Azabu-juban district of Tokyo. The venue offers a themed food and beverage experience. Sailor Moon while watching the daily stage performances.

However, its operations did not last long. Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, it temporarily closed in February 2020 and announced its permanent closure in August of the same year.

Strategic Location and New Performance Concept

The new theater will be located in the Club eX venue inside the Shinagawa Prince Hotel complex. The venue is directly connected to Shinagawa Station, a major transportation hub serving the Shinkansen line and the Yamanote ring line, providing easy access for audiences from within and outside Japan.

The upcoming show will feature all ten Sailor Guardians. Unlike the previous format, this theater will not serve a full meal. Instead, the audience can enjoy a variety of original drinks specially designed for the show, so that the main experience is focused on the stage performance.

Focus on Global Audience and Production Team

Organizers have confirmed that tickets will be available for purchase by domestic spectators and international tourists, with sales scheduled to begin in early 2026.

The production will be handled by an experienced team. Go Ueki, who is known for his work in Attack on Titan: The Musical, will act as director. The script will be written by Shinjiro Kameda, while the theater design will be handled by Wataru Linda Igarashi, who was also involved in the previous -Shining Moon Tokyo-.

Sailor Moon Franchise Stage

Franchise Sailor Moon has a rich history in stage adaptations. Previously, there were Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon The Super Live, The show has toured internationally to cities such as Paris, Washington D.C., and New York.

In addition, a series of musicals have been staged since 2013, starting with Bishojo Senshi Sailor Moon -La Reconquista- to celebrate 20 years of the manga. Other stage productions include Bishojo Senshi Sailor Moon -Le Mouvement Final- in 2017 and a musical starring members of idol group Nogizaka46 in 2018.
