WEBTOON and Warner Bros. Animation's Strategic Collaboration
WEBTOON Entertainment Inc. and Warner Bros. Animation have officially announced plans for a strategic partnership. The two intend to enter into a co-production agreement (co-production) to adapt 10 popular titles from the WEBTOON platform into an animated series format that will be distributed globally.
This collaboration is a very significant expansion step for WEBTOON in expanding the reach of their intellectual property (IP) into the realm of animation. Project The selected titles will come from various titles on the WEBTOON platform, both Korean and English. The development process will be directly supported by WEBTOON Productions' internal team based in the United States as well as their IP division in Japan. Yongsoo Kim, Chief Strategy Officer and Global Head of WEBTOON, stated that their platform has become one of the most exciting sources of original stories in the entertainment industry. He explained, “Our creators are building their own franchise that are beloved by Gen Z audiences. Working with Warner Bros. Animation gives us an incredible opportunity to further develop these stories with one of the most respected names in animation.”

Animation, Cartoon Network Studios and Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe, is also excited about the collaboration. “Bringing together the world-class artistic expertise of Warner Bros. Animation with the vivid storytelling of WEBTOON will create an incredible combination and opportunity to build something special. I can't wait to get started,” he said. The partnership combines WEBTOON's strength in crafting narratives relevant to modern audiences and WBA's decades of proven expertise in producing high-quality animation.
Lineup of Early Titles to be Adapted
From 10 project planned, the two companies have announced the first four titles that will enter the production kitchen.
