Forza Horizon 6 has been officially announced with a release schedule split per platform. The open-world racing game will launch on May 19, 2026 for Xbox Series and PC, while the PS5 version is scheduled to follow in 2026 without a specific date. This information was announced by Xbox Game Studios and Playground Games through an announcement that also includes edition details, key features, and an overview of the setting used.

Release schedule and supported platforms
Forza Horizon 6 is planned to arrive on Xbox Series and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store on May 19, 2026. PS5 will get a later release in 2026. This phased launch model makes the game's availability different between platforms, so PS5 players will need to wait for more detailed date confirmation. Forza Horizon 6 is also said to be available via Game Pass, although package and region details usually follow each service's policies.
Japan setting and Tokyo focus area
Forza Horizon 6“s main location is Japan, with an emphasis on the contrast between urban and rural areas. Tokyo City is billed as the largest urban area ever in the Forza Horizon series, complete with districts such as the city center, docklands/industrial areas, and suburbs. The developers explained that the approach was not to copy Japan with kilometer-by-kilometer precision, but to encapsulate the ”feel" of driving in Japan in a more compact and navigable open-world format.

Gameplay, progression, and community features
In terms of progression, players begin the journey as tourists who want to enter the Horizon Festival. The wristband system returns, and the Collection Journal feature is added to encourage exploration and documentation of the journey. The community element is also expanded through Car Meets, and the EventLab creation tool is upgraded to Horizon CoLab with multiplayer support. The so-called modes include activities such as Time Attack, Drag Meets, Spec Racing, The Eliminator, and Hide & Seek, so that gameplay options are not just centered on traditional racing.
Game edition and package contents
The announcement also included edition details. Standard Edition is priced at US$69.99, Deluxe Edition US$99.99, and Premium Edition US$119.99. The Premium Edition includes four days early access, several car packs, as well as two expansions scheduled to arrive after release. There is also a Premium Upgrade Bundle for US$59.99 to upgrade the base game to the Premium package. These details give an idea of the post-launch content release structure, while helping players decide on an edition based on feature needs, not just extra bonuses.
