The Story of Queen Catherine and the Kingdom of Erathia
The story follows Queen Catherine as she struggles to restore order to her kingdom. The kingdom was devastated following her father’s assassination and attacks by various enemy factions.
Ubisoft has woven together all the storylines from the original games into a single, cohesive experience. A new prologue campaign has been added to help new players understand the world and how to play.
This campaign features new cinematics created from scratch to enhance the story.
New Gameplay and Visuals
Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake has been rebuilt using Ubisoft’s Snowdrop Engine. The original game’s 2D isometric perspective has now been transformed into a detailed 3D world with free camera control.
The game's visuals feature 4K resolution, dynamic lighting, real-time weather, and changing seasons. These changes make Erathia's biomes and battlefields feel more alive.
Ubisoft has also added new planning and decision-making tools. These features make the gameplay more intuitive without altering the game’s original feel.
Xavier Poix, SVP and Managing Director of the China and France Studios, said this remake honors the legacy of the original 1999 game. According to him, this remake also paves the way for a new chapter in the Heroes of Might and Magic franchise.
Nine Factions and Full Content
This game includes all the content from the original game as well as its two expansions: *Armageddon’s Blade* and *The Shadow of Death*. All nine iconic factions and the original campaign are included in their entirety.
Online mode supports up to eight players with a new matchmaking system and simultaneous turns. The fan-favorite Hot Seat mode is also back.
Ubisoft is also maintaining compatibility with thousands of community-created maps and campaigns. This feature preserves the community’s legacy, which has been built over the past 25 years.
The editor tools have been updated, and a new UGC hub is now available in the game. This hub makes it easier for players to find, download, and share community-created content.
The game's audio system has also been updated with voice acting, a richer musical score, and more immersive ambient sound effects. New Sonic cues accompany actions such as combat, spellcasting, and changes in troop morale.
Platforms and Release Date for the Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake
Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake is scheduled for release in 2027 on Ubisoft+, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation, and PC. The game will be available via Ubisoft Connect, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.
Along with this announcement, Ubisoft released *Heroes of Might and Magic III Complete* on Steam. This marks the first time the Complete version of this classic game has been available on that platform.
