Reasons for AFA Hiatus in Hong Kong
The event's return ends a seven-year hiatus. AFA was previously held in Hong Kong from 2017 to 2019, in collaboration with C3 Japan Anime & Game Expo.
However, plans for the 2020 edition were canceled by Sozo due to the protest situation that occurred in Hong Kong in the 2019-2020 period.
The organizers stated that the decision was taken because they could not guarantee the safety of the visitors, guests, exhibitor, and the committee.
