Get ready to return to Teyvat! Update Genshin Impact Version 7.2, titled “Hour of Ruin,” will be released on November 4, 2026. This update introduces a new Archon Quest, a new region in eastern Snezhnaya, and two new playable characters: Mitya and Valeriy.

Based on information from Gematsu, this announcement comes directly from the developer miHoYo (HoYoverse). In this version, the Nails of Retribution begin to rise across Teyvat and threaten civilization, prompting representatives from the seven nations to come to Snezhnaya in response to the Tsaritsa’s call.

New Archon Quest: Seven Nations Unite in Snezhnaya

The latest Archon Quest tells the story of the seven nations of Teyvat uniting to prevent the destruction of civilization. The energy fluctuations of the Nails of Retribution are growing increasingly erratic, and mysterious pillars of light have appeared throughout Teyvat. This marks the beginning of the Holy Soil phenomenon, which has plunged every nation into crisis.

In response, the Tsaritsa convened a historic meeting at Snezhnaya and summoned representatives from the seven nations. You will join the Archons, Neuvillette, and other allies from across Teyvat to confront this threat.

If you complete the Archon Quest within the specified time frame, you’ll receive 560 Primogems and Character Ascension Materials for Mitya. In addition, the latest Secret Tsarist Assignments offer additional rewards, including a Snezhnaya-themed Wind Glider.

New areas in eastern Snezhnaya: Novokitezhgrad and Wingspan Peak

Version 7.2 opens up a new area in eastern Snezhnaya for exploration. You can take the train to Novokitezhgrad, the main producer of Kresnik Kristall in Snezhnaya. This underground city is built entirely beneath the ground and enveloped in Kresnik Kristall, standing in stark contrast to the snowy world above.

Braving the wind and snow, you can also head east toward Wingspan Peak, a peak that stretches out like a giant wing. This is where Old Kitezhgrad is located—the first city of Snezhnaya, founded by the White Tsar.

In addition to exploring, you’ll help Snezhnaya deal with the Holy Soil phenomenon unleashed by Ronova. You’ll do this by using the new Prime Ice Constructs and two elemental shotguns to neutralize the danger posed by the contaminated Kresnik Kristall deposits, while uncovering more of the country’s past.

There’s also a new Meeting Point quest. Danica is carrying out a secret cleanup mission for the Tsaritsa in Novokitezhgrad, while Mitya is investigating the area near Teplo Oasis, and their paths are destined to cross unexpectedly. Not to be outdone, a giant creature from the depths of the ocean awaits challengers in Novokitezhgrad.

Mitya and Valeriy joined the team, and Furina got a second chance

Mitya, an optimistic scientist known for boldly defying the Heavenly Principles, appears as a 5-star Electro Catalyst character. When in a party, she transforms the team’s Superconduct reaction into a Stellar-Conduct reaction, increasing the entire party’s Stellar-Conduct DMG while accumulating special energy.

Pressing Mitya’s Elemental Skill will release that energy to deal periodic Stellar-Conduct DMG to nearby enemies, based on the amount of stored energy. Meanwhile, holding down the Skill will consume energy to unleash a series of enhanced Charged Attacks. This allows Mitya to seamlessly switch between off-field and on-field roles. Her Elemental Burst deals AoE Electro DMG and generates additional special energy for prolonged battles. In certain areas of Snezhnaya, her detector also helps you find hidden paths and unlock rewards that can change Mitya’s appearance.

Another new character is Valeriy, a 4-star Sword user with the Electro element who is also a Major in the Armory Palace. He provides a shield and boosts Electro DMG, especially for teams built around the Stellar-Conduct reaction.

Here is the schedule for the Wishes Event in Version 7.2:

  • Phase 1: Mitya and Valeriy's debut, along with a rerun of Furina.
  • Phase Two: The return of Zibai and Linnea, accompanied by a new Chronicled Wish featuring several Natlan characters.

Limited-time events and Miliastra Wonderland content

New limited-time events can be unlocked by progressing through the Archon Quest in Version 7.2, or directly via the Quick Start feature. In this event, you and your allies from Mondstadt to Snezhnaya will join forces to combat the Holy Soil phenomenon—from rescuing wounded soldiers and relaying critical information to carrying out urgent missions to avert the crisis.

Completing event objectives will reward you with Primogems, upgrade materials, and the chance to invite a 4-star character of your choice to your party. Even after the event ends, you can still explore the area to see the effects it has left behind. There’s also a filming event in Snezhnaya and a mining challenge in Natlan.

In addition, Miliastra Wonderland is introducing a new masquerade-themed lobby, a free 4-star cosmetic set, and additional components, assets, and features for stage editing.

Genshin Impact is now available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via the official client and Epic Games Store, iOS via the App Store, and Android via Google Play. If you’re curious to see how Snezhnaya’s story unfolds, mark November 4 on your calendar!
