The IMAN demo will be available to play on Steam starting October 8, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. WIB. IMAN is a 2D pixel-art religious horror adventure game developed by Pondako. The game also features bullet-hell-style gameplay.
This demo covers most of the opening chapters of IMAN. That means you can try out the beginning of the story before the full version is available. As of now, the release date for the full version of IMAN has not been announced.
Rudi faces possession and black magic
In IMAN, you play the role of Rudi. Rudi is a devout young man. He must face people who are possessed, black magic practices, and various supernatural creatures.
IMAN features 8-bit-style graphics. The combat in this game follows the bullet hell style. In the bullet hell genre, players must dodge the many projectiles that fill the screen.
Inspired by FAITH: The Unholy Trinity
IMAN draws inspiration from FAITH: The Unholy Trinity. That game is a pixel art horror game developed by Airdorf Games. The story centers on a young priest who battles demons and a cult. In the game, players use a cross to ward off evil spirits.
IMAN explores a similar theme of religious horror. The difference is that IMAN features settings and supernatural creatures from Indonesia. The main character is also not a priest, but a young man named Rudi.
Hand-drawn rotoscope animation
One of IMAN’s key features is rotoscope animation. Rotoscoping is an animation technique that involves tracing the movements from original video footage. As a result, the characters’ movements look more natural.
IMAN uses hand-drawn rotoscope animation. This technique is used to depict the game’s most terrifying scenes. This approach mirrors the way FAITH: The Unholy Trinity presents its horror scenes.
Kuntilanak, Pocong, and other local ghosts
IMAN features supernatural creatures from Indonesian folklore. These creatures are the Kuntilanak, the Pocong, the Genderuwo, and the Tuyul. In the demo, you’ll face off against the Kuntilanak and the Pocong.
For players who aren't familiar with them, here's a brief explanation of these four creatures:
- Kuntilanak: a female ghost with long hair and dressed in white.
- Pocong: a ghost whose body is wrapped in a shroud.
- Genderuwo: a supernatural creature with a large body and thick fur.
- Tuyul: a supernatural creature that takes the form of a bald-headed child and is often associated with the theft of money.
These creatures have long been a part of Indonesian folklore and horror films. Their presence gives *IMAN* a horror setting that is deeply rooted in local culture.
Rudi's Memories and the Hidden Secret
The Memory feature serves as your guide as you explore the world of IMAN. This feature uses Rudi’s memories as a reference throughout the game. The details of how this feature works have not yet been explained in detail.
The world of IMAN also holds many dark secrets. These secrets are hidden in records scattered across various locations. In addition, there is a secret boss waiting to be discovered.
For those of you who enjoy delving into stories, these notes can serve as an additional source of information. They’ll help you understand the background of the IMAN universe.
