The anime adaptation of the manga *Now That We Draw* has finally unveiled its first trailer. The trailer features new character art and the official premiere date. The anime is scheduled to premiere in January 2027.
Two manga creators and a fake romantic relationship
*Now That We Draw* is a romantic comedy anime. The story centers on Yuuki Uehara and Niina Miyamoto. Both are high school students who aspire to become professional manga artists. The story combines two themes: romance and the creative process behind manga creation.
Yuuki creates a romance manga featuring a heroine she considers perfect. The heroine is shy, innocent, and has no experience with love. However, an editor at Yuuki’s dream publishing house rejects the work. The editor finds Yuuki’s story cliché and unrealistic.
It turns out Niina received similar feedback on her manga. Niina is Yuuki’s cheerful and popular classmate. Neither of them has ever dated anyone. So Niina suggested that they secretly pretend to be a couple. Their goal is to gain romantic experience for their manga.
The problem is, Niina doesn’t resemble Yuuki’s heroine at all. Yuuki is also very different from the confident hero in Niina’s manga. These differences are the main source of comedy in this story.
Production team and lead voice actor
The anime *Now That We Draw* is produced by ROLL2 Studio. Shunsuke Ishikawa serves as director. Deko Akao is in charge of series composition, while Hiromi Nakagawa serves as character designer.
Series composition is the role responsible for organizing the storyline across all episodes. This role determines which parts of the manga to adapt and how the story is divided into individual episodes. The character designer is responsible for adapting the character designs from the manga so that they can be easily animated.

About the manga *Now That We Draw*
Now That We Draw is a manga by Kyu Takahata and Yuwji Kaba. Its Japanese title is *Kakunaru Ue wa*. The manga has been serialized in Hakusensha’s *Young Animal* magazine since February 2023.
Young Animal is a seinen manga magazine. This means its primary target audience is young adult men. The magazine is also known as the publication home of the manga *Berserk*. For the English-speaking market, Seven Seas Entertainment publishes *Now That We Draw* and markets it as a romantic comedy about two high school manga creators.
The anime adaptation was first announced in November 2025. Following the release of the key visual in March 2026 and the trailer in September 2026, the January 2027 broadcast schedule has now been confirmed. However, a specific air date has not yet been announced.
