Romantic comedy manga series Gals Can't Be Kind to Otaku!? was officially announced to be adapted into anime. The project is scheduled for release in 2026, bringing the unique story between an otaku and a popular girl to the screen.
Story Synopsis
Inside story Gals Can't Be Kind to Otaku!? centers on a student named Takuya Seo, an otaku who sits behind Ijichi and Amane, two popular girls in his class. As individuals from different social groups, they are not expected to have much in common.
However, their worlds meet when an eraser lending incident occurs. During the interaction, Takuya accidentally talks about his favorite anime. Amane then responds quickly to correct Takuya's statement.
Although he denies being a fan, his deep knowledge of the series suggests otherwise, raising the question of whether he is also an otaku.
Anime Adaptation Project Details
Along with the announcement of the adaptation, the official website for the anime Gals Can't Be Kind to Otaku!? has been revealed. Special illustrations from the author and illustrator of the manga have also been released to celebrate this announcement.

Gals Can't Be Kind to Otaku!? is a manga series written by Norishiro-chan with illustrations by Sakana Uozumi. The manga debuted in the manga magazine seinen Coamix's Monthly Comic Zenon in August 2021. To date, the series has been published in 10 volumes.
For the international market, Yen Press holds the license to publish the manga in English. The first volume is scheduled to be officially released on October 28, 2025.
