KADOKAWA Game Linkage and ABC Animation have officially announced the release schedule for their latest indie game project. The game titled Shinonome Abyss: The Maiden Exorcist, is scheduled to launch on PC via the Steam and Nintendo Switch consoles on March 25, 2026.
Game It offers a unique approach to the horror genre by combining roguelike elements and challenging strategy.
Shinonome Abyss Story
Entering the world of Shinonome Abyss, you will play as Yono, Miko or the exorcist girl who is searching for her missing brother.
The quest leads Yono into a mysterious mansion filled with mononokes or ghosts. You'll need to navigate this area and face the various threats lurking in every corner of the room.
Yono is voiced by Akiho Suzumoto who has extensive experience in anime and games. One of her famous roles is Natsuha Arisugawa in THE iDOLM@STER SHINY COLORS, so her presence is expected to give the main character emotional depth throughout the game.
Shinonome Abyss Gameplay Mechanics
To survive in the mansion, the game focuses on using sound as the main strategy.
You'll need to listen to the sounds from the next room to identify the type of mononoke hiding so you can plan your next move more safely. In addition, you can lure mononokes into the trap room using character voices to defeat them.
Sometimes, you don't need to defeat Mononoke directly as utilizing the unique characteristics of each entity gives you a huge advantage to complete the dungeon.
Developer WODAN designed the game to be enjoyable for players unfamiliar with the action genre, as the key to success lies primarily in observation and tactics.

Behind the scenes, this game is a collaboration between publisher KADOKAWA Game Linkage and ABC Animation. KADOKAWA Game Linkage is known for gaming media such as Famitsu, while ABC Animation focuses on animation production.

The game is set to be released digitally for 14.99 USD and is designed as a single-player experience. Shinonome Abyss also supports multiple language options, ranging from Japanese, English, Simplified Chinese, as well as Traditional Chinese.
The publisher is offering a 10 percent launch discount valid from release day March 25 to April 7, 2026 for both Steam and Nintendo Switch versions.
Especially for Switch users, the game's Nintendo eShop page will be available earlier starting March 12, 2026.
