Dungeon Settlers officially launched on Steam Early Access on September 4, 2026. The game was developed by CanOpener, an independent studio based in South Korea. Dungeon Settlers combines colony simulation with dungeon crawling in a dark fantasy setting.

From Steam Next Fest to Early Access

Before entering Early Access, Dungeon Settlers made it into the Top 50 Most Played demos during Steam Next Fest in June 2026. The game’s wishlist count has also surpassed 200,000 on Steam. This achievement is a strong indication that player interest in Dungeon Settlers is quite high ahead of its official launch.

Building Settlements, Exploring Dungeons

In Dungeon Settlers, players take on the role of a commander sent by the Guild. The player’s task is to build a settlement in a barren land while preparing expedition members to venture into increasingly dangerous dungeons. Players are also responsible for constructing buildings, managing food production, and conducting research to develop the settlement.

The recruited expedition members have different abilities and traits. They are then grouped into parties of four to explore procedurally generated dungeons. Each expedition aims to find new resources and opportunities for the settlement’s development.

Real-Time Combat System with Pause

Dungeon Settlers uses a real-time combat system with a pause option. This system allows players to analyze enemy attack patterns, position their party, and strategically combine skills. The deeper they venture into the dungeon, the more dangerous enemies, environmental hazards, and valuable resources they’ll encounter.

Key Features of Dungeon Settlers

CanOpener highlights several key features that shape the Dungeon Settlers gaming experience, including:

  • Housing development, resource management, and research
  • A four-character expedition party with a progression system
  • Real-time tactical combat with a pause option
  • Procedurally generated dungeons
  • A strategic progression that links settlement development with dungeon exploration
