EXSTETRA is finally getting a remastered version after more than a decade. Quoted from Gematsu, developer FuRyu announced that EXSTETRA Remastered will launch for PC via Steam on September 30, 2026 worldwide. Version for PS5, Switch 2, and Switch is also in development, although there is no specific release date for these platforms.
First Global Debut for EXSTETRA
EXSTETRA the original version was first released for PS Vita and Nintendo 3DS at November 7, 2013 in Japan. For over 12 years, the game never left the Japanese market. This remaster will be the first time EXSTETRA comes officially outside of Japan.
This game supports four language options: English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese. This is a strong signal that FuRyu is seriously targeting the global market with this release.
Story: The Kiss That Saved Two Worlds
EXSTETRA is a fantasy RPG set in “Amazea,” a Tokyo merged with another world and threatened with destruction. Players take on the role of Ryoma, This is the story of a high school student who is chosen to be a “Prism” - a savior destined to face the end of the world.
The main mechanic of this game is quite unique: Ryoma must kiss the “Prisma Knights” candidates to galvanize them and share the energy called EXS. This energy is the source of power in Amazea's world, and can only be shared through kissing. The game world is designed with artwork from tokyogenso, It features iconic areas of Tokyo such as Shibuya and Akihabara that have merged into another world.
Battle and Enchant System
In battle, Ryoma as “Prisma” is the only character who can absorb EXS energy from defeated enemies. This EXS is then shared with the Prisma Knights through kisses to strengthen them in battle.
In addition, this game has a system Enchant - a mechanic that allows players to grant various abilities and special effects to equipment. This system is an important element to gain an edge in battle, and collecting the right materials is the key to victory.
