The device features several major upgrades, such as a 7.4-inch OLED display, an AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor, a TMR joystick, and a bundle with the ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 AR gaming glasses.

The ROG Xbox Ally X20 features a translucent black body that reveals some of its gold-colored internal components. This gold-colored internal structure serves as a visual element to commemorate the 20th anniversary of ASUS ROG. With this combination of design elements, the device has a unique look reminiscent of classic gaming consoles, setting it apart from typical handheld gaming PCs.

In addition to the design, one of the key updates to the ROG Xbox Ally X20 is the use of a display OLED. This marks the first time the ROG Ally series has used an OLED panel ROG Nebula HDR It measures 7.4 inches and has a 120Hz refresh rate. The display supports FreeSync Premium Pro and Dolby Vision, and is VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certified.

The screen's peak brightness reaches 1,400 nits, with a response time of 0.2 ms. ASUS also uses glass Corning DXC with an anti-glare coating that is claimed to reduce light reflection by up to 65%. With this combination, the ROG Xbox Ally X20’s display is designed to deliver higher-contrast images, fast response times, and a comfortable viewing experience in a variety of lighting conditions.

These devices are also equipped with LPDDR5X RAM capacity 24GB and PCIe 4.0 NVMe storage as much as 1TB. In standard mode, the D-Pad can be used for four-direction control. The ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 also supports native 3DoF tracking. This feature allows the display to track the user’s head movements. There is also Anchor Mode, which keeps the virtual display in a fixed position during use. These glasses can be connected directly to the ROG Xbox Ally X20 using a single USB Type-C cable. With this connection, users can use the ROG Xbox Ally X20 with the AR glasses to play games at home or on the go.
