Lotte released a summer video for Coolish and Soh, featuring Hatsune Miku as well as Hoshimachi Suisei. This video is interesting because it features these two virtual idols in a real-world setting in a TV commercial titled “Tsumetakute Aoi, Natsu ga Kita”.

Hatsune Miku and Hoshimachi Suisei in a Commercial Video

Hatsune Miku is known as a Vocaloid character from the digital world. Hoshimachi Suisei is known as a VTuber from Hololive who is active as a virtual singer.

In this Coolish video, Miku and Suisei appear in various scenes that reflect everyday life. The story focuses on the lives of Japanese students who stay active throughout the summer.

Miku and Suisei are shown bringing ice cream to students who are out and about in the hot weather. The products featured are Coolish, a soft-serve ice cream in a pouch, and Soh, a conventional ice cream brand from Lotte.

Japanese Student Summer And The Song Ao No Sumika

This video was released on July 3, 2026, and began airing nationwide in Japan on July 7, 2026. This TV commercial also marks the first joint commercial to feature both Coolish and Soh in a single summer-themed concept.

The story is set during summer in Japan, focusing on students who continue to participate in school club activities, sports practice, art practice, and competition preparation. For this reason, Coolish and Soh appear in the story as ice cream that Miku and Suisei bring along to provide a refreshing treat amid the hot weather.

In this video, Hatsune Miku and Hoshimachi Suisei perform “Ao no Sumika,” a song written and composed by Tatsuya Kitani. The song is also widely known as the opening theme for the anime Jujutsu Kaisen.

The choice of that song feels fitting for the video’s concept. “Ao no Sumika” can be interpreted as “Where Our Blue Is,” so it’s still in line with the “blue” theme used in this campaign.

The blue theme is evident in the packaging for Coolish Vanilla and Soh, and it aligns with the visual identities of Miku and Suisei, both of which are closely associated with shades of blue. With this duet format and visual style, the Coolish video feels similar to a music video, while still clearly conveying the product’s message.

The character design for this TV commercial was handled by Nishiki Kope. The design elements help Miku and Suisei blend seamlessly with the “Summer” concept the video aims to convey.

In addition to the full music video, this campaign also features a short version for TV commercials.

The Concept of Virtual Idols in a Real-World Setting

The main appeal of this Coolish video lies in the way virtual characters are integrated with real-world locations. Miku and Suisei still appear as animated characters, but they are set in environments that feel close to everyday life.

This kind of approach is not uncommon in virtual idol music videos. Hatsune Miku has previously appeared in visual concepts that blend digital characters with modern settings in Intergalactic Bound.

Hoshimachi Suisei also has several music videos that play with the sense of space, the stage, and cinematic visuals. Some examples include The Stargazing Girl, AWAKE, and BIBBIDIBA.

The Coolish video takes a more casual approach. Miku and Suisei don’t just appear on stage or in a fantasy-style visual world—they’re right there among students, at school, and participating in summer activities.

This collaboration feels light, musical, and perfectly captures the summer vibe that Coolish brings.
