Ubisoft has just announced its lineup for gamescom 2026 in Cologne, and the main highlight at their booth this time is Rayman Legends Retold, a reimagined version of the classic platformer that was first released in 2013.
In addition, Ubisoft will also be reviving the Community Lounge, which was one of the highlights of their booth in previous years.
Rayman Returns with a New Look
Rayman Legends Retold was developed by Ubisoft Montpellier, in collaboration with Ubisoft Milan, with support from several other Ubisoft studios, including Annecy, Berlin, Bordeaux, Paris, Da Nang, Düsseldorf, Shanghai, and Pastagames. As the name suggests, this game isn’t just a remaster—it’s a complete reimagining of Rayman Legends, featuring 3D graphics, a new story, and cutscenes with full voice acting.
At the booth gamescom Later, visitors will be able to try out the first level of the game, one of the new dragon ride segments, and even a musical level—a hallmark of the Rayman series since its inception. For those who’ve played the original Rayman Legends, the musical levels have always been one of the most memorable highlights, so it makes perfect sense that Ubisoft chose that segment to showcase.
The big question so far is just how much the gameplay has changed—not just the visuals. A reimagining like this usually runs the risk of two scenarios: completely revamping the gameplay experience, or merely changing the exterior without significantly altering the core mechanics. We won’t be able to assess that until someone actually tries out the build on-site.
The Community Lounge Is Back
In addition to Rayman, Ubisoft has also confirmed that the Community Lounge will return to their booth. This area will feature a variety of community activities, chat sessions with developers, and live streams discussing other Ubisoft games such as Rainbow Six Siege, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, The Division 2, Rayman, and Anno 117.
The return of the Community Lounge makes perfect sense, especially since gamescom isn’t just a place to showcase new games, but also an opportunity to maintain direct interaction with players. This format provides a more relaxed setting for Ubisoft to share updates, hear feedback from the community, and build excitement beyond the game demos available at the booth.
Ubisoft Livestream Schedule and Booth Locations
The daily schedule will be displayed on-site, while select sessions will be streamed live on Ubisoft’s official YouTube and Twitch channels from August 26 to 29. So for those who can’t make it to Cologne in person, there’s still a way to follow some of the event’s highlights from home.
The Ubisoft booth will be located in Hall 6.1, Booths C011–B010, and will be open to visitors from August 27 through 30. Meanwhile, gamescom 2026 will take place at Koelnmesse in Cologne from August 26 through 30, with Opening Night Live kicking off the event on August 25.
The combination of Rayman Legends Retold and the Community Lounge feels like Ubisoft’s strategy to strike a balance between two goals: attracting attention with a new game that evokes strong nostalgia, while maintaining a connection with the community through a more relaxed and interactive format. This isn’t a new approach, but it makes sense given that gamescom is one of the biggest events for publishers to showcase their work directly to the public.
Further details about Rayman Legends Retold and other Ubisoft games are likely to be revealed during gamescom 2026.
