Black Tower Studios announced that the game *Dr. Oops!* will be featured at the Tokyo Game Show 2026. This medical mystery adventure game invites players to take on the role of an unlicensed doctor at a hospital full of oddities.
The High-Risk Practice of Unlicensed Medicine
The player takes on the role of a doctor without an official license. This doctor works at a hospital with highly questionable operating practices. Their main task is to diagnose and treat the steady stream of patients.
In addition to treating patients, this doctor must also earn money. That money is used to pay off a massive debt. This combination of medical and financial pressures is at the heart of the game's story.
The Diagnosis Process and the Quirky Minigame
Players must talk to each patient to gather information. Clues about the illness are hidden in the patient’s appearance, the symptoms they describe, and the medical history form. Once the illness is identified, players select the appropriate medication.
The medication is then loaded into a pistol-shaped medical device. The player fires the device directly into the patient’s body to administer the treatment. This treatment process is presented with the game’s signature dark humor.
Diagnosis isn’t the only challenge in Dr. Oops!. Several additional minigames have been included to add variety to the gameplay:
- A rhythm-based minigame for CPR on critically ill patients.
- A crane claw minigame for the brain-swapping process.
Free Demo of Dr. Oops! Released First
Black Tower Studios has released a free demo of Dr. Oops! at Steam. Anyone can play this demo, whether they’re attending the Tokyo Game Show or not.
The demo showcases the core gameplay of Dr. Oops! in its entirety. Players can examine patients, diagnose illnesses, treat them, and earn money during the day. Every night, players must deal with mounting debt.
Hundreds of Unique Patients with the Director's Own Voice
Dr. Oops! features more than 300 different patient characters. Some examples include an elderly man carrying radioactive material and a woman who fell into a sewage pit. One of the patients even looks like a demon.
All the characters in this game have full voice acting. The game director himself provided the voices for more than 300 of those characters.
Try It Out Right Now at the Black Tower Studios Booth
Visitors to the 2026 Tokyo Game Show can try out Dr. Oops! in person at the Black Tower Studios booth, number 09-E35. This opportunity allows players to get an early taste of the gameplay before the game’s official release in 2027.
Dr. Oops! was developed and published by Black Tower Studios for the platform Steam in single-player mode. The game will be available in Japanese, English, Simplified Chinese, and several other languages, with Japanese voice acting. The price of the game has not yet been announced.
