Manga reading platform DouDouDoujin will certainly be back at the Comic Frontier XX event which will be held on May 24 and 25, 2025. Not only present, DouDouDoujin will also present eight creators from Japan to present at one of the largest creator events in Indonesia.

DouDouDoujin CEO Souichiro Mizutani (水谷 翔一郎) told the PlayEatSleep team that this time around, DouDouDoujin will be bringing eight creators from Japan to present in person at Comic Frontier XX, including Mutsumi Okuhashi (奥橋睦) who is the mangaka behind the manga series Paladin of The End (最果てのパラディン) which has also been adapted into an anime series.

Eight Japanese Creators to Present at Comifuro XX

Since its inception at Comifuro 18, DouDouDoujin has regularly brought creators from Japan to interact and inspire Indonesian creators directly. Not only that, the number of creators invited is also increasing.

Starting from Keiichi Neda (根田啓史)The creator of the series My Father Has Become a Beautiful Girl and It's a Lot of Pain (父親が美少女になってしまって色々つらい) who has been present since Comifuro 18 will be returning to Comifuro XX. In addition to the three creators who have appeared with DouDouDoujin at previous Comifuro events, there are five other Japanese creators who will appear at Comifuro XX. The first is Kazuchi (カヅチ), Hanamori Bambi (花森バンビ), Kimoi Butao (肝井豚男), Kishiba Kiraku (岸馬きらく), and of course Mutsumi Okuhashi (奥橋睦), the mangaka behind the manga series Paladin of The End (最果てのパラディン) which has also been adapted into an anime series.

The eight creators are not just visiting. Creators and visitors to Comifuro XX will be able to interact directly with them at the DouDouDoujin booth. DouDouDoujin also confirmed that some of them will be opening live drawing commissions at Comifuro XX. This is certainly a rare opportunity that may not be repeated again.

In addition, visitors to Comifuro XX can also purchase the latest Doudoudoujin magazine.

Why DouDouDoujin is Bringing in More Creators

The presence of eight Japanese creators at Comifuro XX is not a spontaneous move. It is part of DouDouDoujin's long-term vision to build a global ecosystem that supports derivative creators, or creators who create derivative works from manga, anime, and other media, whether in the form of fan art, manga, voice comics, or translations.

On several occasions, Mizutani has also mentioned that the platform exists because of the huge gap between fan creativity and the limitations of official permission from copyright owners. In an industry where fan creativity is often restricted due to legal constraints or unfriendly platforms, DouDouDoujin aims to be a solution that provides a place where creators, both amateur and professional, can express themselves and even profit legally.

Bringing eight creators to Comifuro XX is a concrete implementation of that mission. Not only presenting creators whose works are already known in Japan, DouDouDoujin wants to build direct relationships between Japanese creators and creative communities in Indonesia. Through this meeting, local creators can get inspiration, learn from the experience of the Japanese industry, and establish long-term collaborations that were previously difficult to realize.

Creating a Creator-Friendly Platform

Unlike the centralized model of big publishers, DouDouDoujin takes a decentralized approach that puts decisions and discretion in the hands of creators. They provide a creator-friendly UI/UX that allows each creator to decide how their work can be used derivatively-including in the form of voice comics, translated works, or fan manga.

Through a transparent revenue-sharing scheme, DouDouDoujin opens up a wide space for young creators and the international community to grow, without the need to rely on the old closed industry system.

DouDouDoujin's commitment to continue growing the network of creators in Indonesia is also evident from their collaborations with institutions such as Ikuzo, the largest manga school in Indonesia, as well as the event voice acting and fan art contest that they organize with the community. In this way, DouDouDoujin is not only a platform, but also a bridge that brings together creators from different countries in one healthy and sustainable creative ecosystem.

In addition to Comifuro XX, DouDouDoujin will also be present at the event Comipara 4 which will be held on May 17-18, 2025 in Yogyakarta!
