Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia has added new cast members ahead of its premiere on July 4, 2026. Two active sumo wrestlers from Mongolia, Tamawashi and Tamashoho, are set to join the cast and make their voice acting debuts through anime This.

"Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia" Announces Tamawashi and Tamashoho's Voice Acting Debut

Tamawashi will voice Genghis Khan, while Tamashoho will play a Mongol soldier. Both are also said to be providing additional voice work for the series.

The anime will premiere as a one-hour special featuring episodes 1 and 2 back-to-back. It is scheduled to air starting July 4, 2026.

Along with this announcement, a commentary video was also released featuring Tamawashi and Tamashoho discussing their first experiences with the anime recording process. Tamawashi noted that the process felt challenging at first before he eventually got used to it, while Tamashoho said this opportunity was a fun and memorable experience.

In addition, the anime will be featured in a panel and an advance screening of episodes 1 and 2 at Anime Expo 2026 on July 3 in Los Angeles. The event will feature Naoko Yamada, Abel Gongora, and producers from Science SARU and TV Asahi.

Story Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia Set in the 13th century, the story follows the journey of Sitara, a young girl who has lost her mother and been separated from her homeland. In a desperate situation and unable to fend for herself, she is taken in by Fatima, a kind-hearted woman from a family of scholars.

From there, Sitara began to realize the importance of knowledge. She was motivated to keep learning once she understood that knowledge could be a way to overcome life’s challenges.

At the same time, the Mongol Empire under the leadership of Genghis Khan continued to expand its territory. When that expansion reached the city where Sitara lived, her peaceful life came to an end. The loss she suffered then led to a major turning point in her life.

Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia is an anime adaptation of the historical manga by Tomato Soup, also known as A Witch's Life in Mongol or The Magician of the Sky. This manga began serialization in September 2021.

The series has garnered attention for its achievements at various manga awards. It once ranked first in This Manga is Amazing! 2023 the Women’s Edition category and was nominated for the Manga Taisho Awards in 2023 and 2024.
