Masaoki Shindō's Ruri Dragon manga will soon be published in Indonesian by publisher M&C! This title comes from the manga line Weekly Shonen Jump. This Indonesian translated version will add to the list of licensed manga accessible to readers in Indonesia.

Story

The Ruri Dragon manga follows the life of Ruri Aoki, a high school student who suddenly experiences physical changes in the form of growing horns. Her mother later reveals that Ruri's father was a dragon. The story depicts Ruri's daily life after learning that she is a half-dragon human, including interactions at school and the surrounding environment.

The story is presented in a slice of life format and focuses on social dynamics and daily activities without major conflicts or battles.

Smart Cross-Media Strategy

The Ruri Dragon manga was developed by Shueisha into various media formats as part of cross-platform distribution. One form of adaptation is voice comic which aired on the YouTube JUMP CHANNEL.

M&C! Indonesia License and Reader Expectations

Publisher M&C! announced through a post on its official account Instagram and Facebook that the Ruri Dragon manga will soon be published in Indonesia. The post features a cover image of the first volume with the caption "Publishing soon, Ruri Dragon vol. 1". The release date has not been officially announced yet.

Before the announcement from M&C!, Indonesian readers had already shown enthusiasm for the Ruri Dragon manga. On social media, the term "Ruri Sinaga" went viral because it was considered to have a double meaning. Sinaga is a widely recognized Batak clan in Indonesia, while in the context of the sentence, the phrase can also be read as "the dragon," referring to Ruri's character identity.

With this announcement, Indonesian readers will be able to access the Ruri Dragon manga through official channels. The print translation version will complete the list of licensed manga circulating in the local market.

About Ruri Dragon

The Ruri Dragon manga is a work by Masaoki Shindō that was first published as a one-shot in the magazine Jump Giga in December 2020. After a positive response, the manga was continued in serial format in the magazine Weekly Shonen Jump starting June 2022. The serialization was paused after six chapters due to the mangaka's health reasons.

In March 2024, the series was again published digitally through the platform Shonen Jump+. As of March 2025, the Ruri Dragon manga has been published in three tankoubon volumes by Shueisha.

The Ruri Dragon manga ranked first in the "Recommended Comics Chosen by Booksellers Nationwide 2023" survey. This information is officially listed on PR Times and website zenkokushotenin-manga.jp.

The presence of this manga in an Indonesian translation marks the expansion of its global distribution while providing legal access to local readers.

PS: It's a shame the title of the manga wasn't changed to "Ruri the Dragon".
