Honkai: Star Rail back to presenting major update via version 3.5 titled "Before Their Deaths" which will be officially released on August 13, 2025. This update brings a lot of new content, ranging from the continuation of the main story, two playable five-star characters, new exploration areas, to various interesting events that are ready to spoil the players.
Amphoreus Story Continues and New Adventures
This update continues the adventure in the second half of Amphoreus' story. Trailblazer, the main character, accompanies Cyrene on the latest Trailblaze mission that takes them back in time, exactly a thousand years earlier in the Okhema era.
During this time, Imperator Cerydra, ruler of Okhema and holder of the Coreflame Law, was still on the throne. This story deepens the lore of Honkai: Star Rail and provides a richer narrative experience for players.
The previous chapter featured Trailblazer making a promise to Phainon and taking on the role of Deliverer. Phainon then demonstrated his power to Nanook, forcing Irontomb to retreat. The journey is far from over, and the rescue of Amphoreus is the main challenge ahead.
Two New Characters: Hysilens and Cerydra
Update 3.5 introduced two highly anticipated five-star characters, Hysilens and Cerydra.
Hysilens is a holy city knight commander with Physical elements and follows the Path of Nihility. His effectiveness is very high in teams that rely on damage over time (DoT). His Ultimate creates a Zone that amplifies DoT effects and lowers enemy ATK and DEF. Hysilens' skill also increases the damage taken by enemies, making it perfect for increasing team output.
Imperator Cerydra comes as a Wind-Type character who follows the Path of Harmony. As a strategist, Cerydra grants teammates the "Military Merit" buff, increasing ATK, CRIT DMG, and All-Type RES PEN. This buff also allows teammates to mimic the effects of their Skills, greatly supporting team strategy in long battles. Cerydra's Ultimate deals damage to all enemies and grants Charge to herself, supporting the team continuously.
In addition to the two new characters, the five-star limited characters Stellaron Hunter Kafka and Silver Wolf also return in event warp version 3.5. Players have the opportunity to get their favorite characters.
New Maps and Exciting Events
Version 3.5 brings a new map called Styxia, City of Infinite Revelry. This area offers new exploration and exciting challenges, including a battle against a new boss named Lygus who has two different forms. Lygus' identity and ulterior motives will be revealed as the story progresses.
The "Chrysos Maze Grand Restaurant" event invites players to manage a restaurant and serve elves, while the "Old Brews & New Friends" event brings the experience of being a bartender and interacting with old characters. Both events provide fun gameplay variations outside of the main battle.
Voice Toggle Feature and Presence at Gamescom 2025
The voice toggle feature for collaboration characters is now available. Players can choose between in-game voice lines or real voice actors, making the experience more personalized and immersive. Honkai: Star Rail will also be present at Gamescom 2025 with a special booth and various giveaways.
