This anime was first announced as part of the franchise’s 30th-anniversary celebrations. Now, with a release date set and new footage beginning to surface, the direction of the 2026 version of Magic Knight Rayearth is becoming increasingly clear.
Magic Knight Rayearth Unveils Second Trailer and New Visuals
The latest update from anime Magic Knight Rayearth has unveiled its second main trailer, showcasing the world of Cephiro, the three main characters, and several key figures who will play a role in the story. Along with this, the anime has also released a new key visual ahead of its premiere in October 2026.
This announcement also introduces three additional cast members for key characters in the story:
- Yuki Kaji as Clef, the highest-ranking teacher in Cephiro who guides the Magic Knights and grants them magical power
- Emiri Kato as Presea, a blacksmith who forges weapons for the Magic Knights
- Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Ferio, the mysterious warrior encountered by the main trio in the Silent Forest
Previously, the anime had already announced the main cast for the central characters. With the addition of these three new names, the lineup of key characters in the story now looks even more complete.
Magic Knight Rayearth Story
The story of Magic Knight Rayearth follows three schoolgirls—Hikaru Shidou, Umi Ryuuzaki, and Fuu Hououji—who meet during a school field trip to Tokyo Tower. During the trip, they are suddenly transported to another world called Cephiro through a magical portal.
In that world, they were summoned by Princess Emeraude using her last remaining strength. Emeraude believed that the three of them were the Magic Knights prophesied to come and save Cephiro.
This premise lies at the heart of the Magic Knight Rayearth franchise, which blends fantasy adventure with the journey of three main characters from the real world to another world. The latest trailer reaffirms these elements through the appearance of the main characters and the atmosphere of the world of Cephiro, which serves as the center of the story’s conflict.

About Magic Knight Rayearth
Magic Knight Rayearth is a manga by CLAMP that was serialized in Nakayoshi magazine from November 1993 to February 1995. The sequel series was then published from March 1995 to April 1996, and the entire series was collected into a total of six volumes.
This franchise was previously adapted into a television anime series in 1994. That series ran for 49 episodes over two seasons. In addition, an OVA was released in 1997 with a story different from that of the original manga.
This new 2026 anime is the latest adaptation to bring back Magic Knight Rayearth to today’s audience, with a new cast and crew and an official broadcast schedule that has now been set.
