SEGA has announced that STRANGER THAN HEAVEN will be featured at the Tokyo Game Show 2026 (TGS 2026), which will take place at Makuhari Messe from September 17–21. The game is scheduled for release on Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Xbox Cloud, Steam, and PlayStation 5 on January 15, 2027. Public days will be held September 19–21.
Things to Try at the STRANGER THAN HEAVEN Booth
The STRANGER THAN HEAVEN booth at TGS 2026 features several areas, including:
- Demo Area — Visitors can try out the combat system firsthand through the demo version, which has been updated from previous events.
- Theater — featuring never-before-seen in-game musical performances, with three performance sessions, each featuring a different character.
- Onstage Events — A talk show featuring special guests and live battle demonstrations on stage at the SEGA/ATLUS booth throughout the five days of TGS 2026.
- Museum Tour — an immersive exhibition inspired by five different eras in the game’s story, with no reservation required.
- Freebies — Hand fans for booth visitors, lanyards for theater and demo participants, and analog stick covers for those who show proof of a pre-order for STRANGER THAN HEAVEN, with a limited quantity available each day.
- Social Media Promotions while the event is in progress.
- New merchandise From STRANGER THAN HEAVEN and RGG Studio, including logo pins, key visual T-shirts, vinyl record coasters, resin rings, and plastic folders, available at the SEGA/ATLUS store in Hall 11.
TGS 2026 Location and Schedule
TGS 2026 will take place at Makuhari Messe, with business days on September 17–18 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and public days on September 19–20 from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and September 21 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The STRANGER THAN HEAVEN booth is located in Hall 4, N01, while the merchandise store is located in Hall 11, W03.
Pre-Orders and Wishlists Are Now Open
Pre-orders for both the physical and digital versions of STRANGER THAN HEAVEN are now open, with the exclusive Dosu: Kagekiri weapon DLC as a bonus. The game can also be added to your wishlist on each platform, namely Microsoft Store, PlayStation Store, and Steam.
About STRANGER THAN HEAVEN
STRANGER THAN HEAVEN is a new IP from RGG Studio, the team behind the Like a Dragon series, and serves as a distant prequel to that franchise. The game’s story follows Makoto Daito, a Japanese-American who begins his journey in San Francisco in 1915 before living a life as both a criminal and a showman across five different cities in Japan over the course of 50 years. The game also features legendary actor Bunta Sugawara as a CG character, with official approval from his family, as well as a theme song performed by Snoop Dogg, Ado, Satoshi Fujihara, and Tori Kelly.
