SEGA is releasing a free update for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds on September 9, 2026. This update introduces Amigo, a character from the series Samba de Amigo, as a new racer. SEGA is also organizing a crossover event titled the Samba de Amigo Festival, which begins on September 11.
Amigo Joins as a New Racer
Amigo appeared in his classic skin at Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. His Machine is called Locomotive de Amigo. SEGA also released a trailer titled “Amigo Joins the Race!” featuring the Machine and Amigo’s moves on the track.
Three New Songs Added to the Jukebox
This update also expands the in-game music collection. Here is a list of the new songs added to the Jukebox:
- VAMOS A CARNAVAL – 2023 Version.
- VAMOS A CARNAVAL – 2023 Version for Final Lap mode
- Let’s find and shake it, available exclusively on Jukebox
Players can set these songs as background music for races through the Jukebox menu.
Samba de Amigo Festival Event
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will host an event titled the Samba de Amigo Festival CrossOver. The event will run from September 11 at 8:00 a.m. to September 14 at 7:59 a.m. UTC+8. Players will join one of three teams to earn as many points as possible.
Each race in this event presents a different challenge. Some races track the number of Touch Boosts a player performs, while others have specific objectives. The Festival Points you earn can be exchanged for exclusive items.
Here are some of the rewards players can earn during the event:
- The title is called *The Chosen One*
- Gadget 4th Stage Charging Kit
- A number of exclusive decals
- Exclusive Horn
SEGA says event-exclusive items will be available in a future update. Other ways to earn festival rewards may also be introduced in the future.
Updated Free Demo of Sonic Racing CrossWorlds
SEGA has also updated its free demo Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. Extreme Gear Machines is now available in the demo. This update applies only to the demo on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Epic Games.
Demo Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds It’s available for free download on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Epic Games. Players can try out the Grand Prix and Time Trial modes, as well as customize their Machines and Gadgets. Save data from the demo can be transferred once players purchase the full version of the game.
Nintendo Switch 2 Platforms and Editions
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds It was first released on September 25, 2025. The game is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition was released on December 4, 2025, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2 platform. The content of this edition is the same as that of the versions for other platforms. Save data from the Nintendo Switch version can be transferred to the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition.
