Key features in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is the Travel Rings, portals that take you to CrossWorlds, a world that changes the course of the race.
Each race consists of three laps, with significant changes at each stage:

- Second lap begins after you pass through the Travel Ring, which changes the track to CrossWorlds with different obstacles and paths.
- Last lap return to the original path but with new changes, such as different shortcut locations, items, Rings, and the random appearance of Frenzy Gates.
