Danchi Days will be released for PC via Steam on October 29, 2026. This slice-of-life adventure game is brought to you by publisher Analgesic Productions and developers sandy powder, Melos Han-Tani, mogumu, and gingham games.
Danchi Days Follows the Story of Hoshino and the Summer Festival
Hoshino is a 12-year-old boy who has returned to his hometown in Japan. He lives with his grandmother, who now has dementia. To cheer his grandmother up, Hoshino tries to revive the local summer festival.
He began reaching out to his neighbors to get the festival back on track. However, not everyone shared Hoshino’s view of the plan.
This game is set in a danchi, a public housing complex in Japan that is home to a diverse group of residents from various backgrounds. Players will encounter friendly seniors, high schoolers who want to leave the neighborhood, and adults going about their daily lives.
The story of Danchi Days is described as a comedic yet bittersweet tale. The game depicts life in the danchi community through Hoshino’s perspective, while bringing to light various forgotten aspects of his neighborhood.
Danchi Exploration and In-Game Internet
In Danchi Days, players will explore the areas around Danchi, including buildings and forests. Hoshino is accompanied by a kappa sidekick named Moro-Q, who helps him find five offerings to revive the Summer Festival.
Players can also use the in-game internet to look up information about their neighbors. This feature isn’t all lighthearted, as some websites have a darker side. Through this aspect, the game shows that feelings of anger and sadness are also part of life in the danchi.
Unique Features and Mini-Games
In addition to exploring and interacting with neighbors, Danchi Days features Sense Games—mini-games with unusual activities. Some examples include hugging plushies or listening to a toilet.

Danchi Days will be available for PC via Steam on October 29, 2026. Upon release, the game will support English, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese.
