Frostpunk gets a new set of updates in April 2026. Frostpunk 2 is confirmed to receive the Breach of Trust DLC on June 23, the original Frostpunk was announced to be heading to Nintendo Switch, and playtests registration for Frostpunk 2 has also opened for the phase scheduled to take place in May.

Frostpunk 2 Gets Breach of Trust DLC on June 23rd
11 bit studios set June 23, 2026 as the release date of Breach of Trust, the new DLC for Frostpunk 2. This content takes the story to New Edinburgh, a city built near a volcano and in an unstable state after geothermal energy was used to power the Generator.
In the midst of that situation, the Old Captain has been dethroned and players take on the role of First Citizen. The city is also under the Vote of Trust system, which is a measure of public support for the current leadership.
As unrest mounts and volcanic ash covers the skies, New Edinburgh has only one relatively safe haven. That location is a nearby colony that stands on a frozen lake.
This storyline again places players in the midst of strong social and political pressures. The threat of nature remains present, but the tensions within the city are also an important part of the situation that must be faced.
Breach of Trust DLC Adds New Factions and Threats
In addition to bringing a new story arc, Breach of Trust also adds a number of gameplay elements for Frostpunk 2. This content expands the conflict in New Edinburgh and its old colony, Aurora.
Key features announced include:
- A new story about the fate of New Edinburgh and Aurora
- Five new Communities and Factions with different identities, backgrounds, and ideologies
- New environmental threats through Tremors and Volcano Night mechanics
- New narrative events and new custom gameplay mechanics
- Independent Colony system, with options for relations through peaceful trade, extortion by force, or total conquest
- Two new scenario maps
- Five new buildings and hubs
- New Laws

The latest update for Frostpunk 2 also opens up registration for playtests. This phase of playtests is scheduled to take place in May, and the registration form is already open via this registration page.
Frostpunk Original confirmed for Nintendo Switch
In addition to updates for Frostpunk 2, 11 bit studios also announced that the original Frostpunk will be released for Nintendo Switch. As of now, the release date is still unannounced.

In a video celebrating the franchise, lead designer Jakub Stokalski said that players will be able to take all the tough decisions from Frostpunk literally as the game is coming to Nintendo Switch. He also mentioned that the gameplay and moral tension of the game can now be enjoyed in a portable format.
