Hololive continues to expand its presence in the gaming world through おかゆにゅ～む！~Okayunyumu！~A visual novel featuring the Vtuber character Nekomata Okayu. The game was first released in Japan for Switch, PS4, and PC.
Now, the English version is scheduled to be available globally via Steam on August 7, 2025, opening up wider access for international players who want to enjoy an interactive story with one of Hololive's popular Vtubers.
Romantic Story with Nekomata Okayu
In Okayunyumu!You'll play a protagonist whose life is changed by an encounter with a starving, purple-furred stray cat. As he shares an onigiri with the cat, he wakes up the next morning with a cat-eared girl-Nekomata Okayu-sleeping sweetly beside him. Having nowhere to live, Okayu ends up staying with him.
Over time, their relationship develops into more than just friends. You will be taken into a touching story of togetherness, past secrets, and warm moments shared in the midst of everyday life. This story serves not only romance, but also emotional reflection in a visual novel style that emphasizes branching storytelling.
Gameplay System and Sound Features
As an ADV (adventure visual novel) game, Okayunyumu! offers a storyline that branches out according to the choices you make throughout the game. The story is fully voiced by Nekomata Okayu and Inugami Korone, two Vtubers from Hololive who are well known to the international community. The global version keeps the Japanese audio, but includes English subtitles and menus.
The system is designed to allow players to enjoy an immersive narrative experience while exploring characters and evolving relationships. Interactions with the characters will also unlock more layers of the story that are full of emotion and warmth.
Hololive and Visual Novels: A Growing Trend
Okayunyumu! is not the first visual novel project starring Hololive talents. Previously, Minato Aqua was also present in the game Aquarium which releases in 2023 and also gets an English version for PC. This signifies Entergram and Hololive's consistency in expanding the reach of their character narratives into interactive formats.
