Nine years after Ghost Recon Wildlands was first released in 2017, Ubisoft is once again providing free content updates for the game as part of the 25th-anniversary celebration of the Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon franchise.

In addition to the new Last Rites mission, this celebration also brings back the Predator event and offers free access to several Ghost Recon titles for a limited time.

Last Rites, a New Mission for Wildlands

Update titled Ghost Recon Wildlands: Last Rites It is now available for free on Ubisoft+, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via the Ubisoft Store, the Epic Games Store, and Steam.

Developed by Ubisoft Bordeaux, this standalone mission takes players to a darker, more ominous part of Bolivia, where Los Penitentes—a fanatical cult that venerates its own version of faith, sacrifice, and justice—holds sway over the region. The Ghosts’ mission is to hunt down La Llorona, the cult’s leader, amid swamps and dense forests with low visibility.

Technical Improvements: 60 FPS and 4K Graphics

In addition to new story content, this update also brings technical improvements for current-gen consoles and PC, including 60 FPS gameplay, improved view distance rendering, updated lighting and shadows, and sharper 4K resolution.

Ubisoft has also added fairly extensive customization options—ranging from enemy behavior, damage values, weapon restrictions, friendly fire, weather, and HUD elements—so players can adjust the level of realism and challenge to suit their preferences.

The Predator Is Back

The Predator event, a favorite among many players, is back, bringing the legendary alien hunter’s threat for players to face once again.

Olivier Leonardi, Creative Director, stated that Ghost Recon would not have reached this point without the dedication and feedback from its community over the past 25 years, and that Last Rites was created as a tribute to that legacy as well as a token of gratitude to the players who have faithfully followed the franchise.

Three Free Ghost Recon Games to Try

To celebrate this occasion, Ubisoft is also offering free access to several iconic titles from the franchise:

  • Ghost Recon Wildlands and Ghost Recon Breakpoint will be available to play for free from August 6–10.
  • Ghost Recon: Future Soldier is available for free on PC via Ubisoft Connect from August 6–13, where players will take on the roles of Kozak and Team Hunter.
  • In September, the Ghost Recon Breakpoint 25th Anniversary Bundle will be available, featuring free items such as the M4A1 Tactical Brown, the Wolf Enhanced Helmet, and the Opheis Mk.II Hunter.

Starting today, players can also join the Ghost Recon Insider Program to help provide feedback on the future direction of Ghost Recon through ghostrecon.com/insider.
