Statement from Santa Monica Studio
“Since God of War Laufey was revealed in June, we've been deeply grateful to see so much excitement for Faye's journey through the Everywhen. We don't take for granted the trust placed in our studio to deliver an extraordinary experience worthy of the passion and dedication of our fans.”
“With this in mind, we've made the decision to delay the release of God of War Laufey to May 20, 2027. We will make the most of every moment until then by putting in the finishing touches and pushing the game to its fullest potential.”
“On behalf of the entire team, we thank you for your patience, and we’ll be back soon with the latest updates!”
Faye's Adventure in the Everywhen
God of War Laufey puts Laufey (Faye), the warrior who is Kratos's wife and Atreus's mother, in the lead role. After her death, Faye awakens in the Everywhen, the afterlife of the gods, where ruthless deities from many mythologies vie for power. There she discovers that the plans she laid to protect Kratos and Atreus are now under threat. You can read the game's early details in the article God of War Laufey Announced for PS5.
Deborah Ann Woll returns as Faye, joined by Jack Quaid as Phranque, a cosmic cube closely tied to the Everywhen, and Perlina Lau as Rue, a magical ribbon that guards Faye's new sword. According to PlayStation, the game can be fully enjoyed without playing the previous entries, though God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarök are recommended for a full understanding of its world and characters.
