Capcom announces official release date Onimusha: Way of the Sword to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. This game will be available on September 25, 2026, The free demo is available now on all these platforms.
Demo: Kiyomizu-dera and the Fight Against Sasaki Ganryu
Demo Onimusha: Way of the Sword lets players explore Kiyomizu-dera Temple and face a legendary rival Sasaki Ganryu in one-on-one combat. Players who complete the demo will get a bonus charm “Kubi Akari” that can be used in the full game upon release.
Capcom reminds us that the demo performance may not reflect the final product. A PC benchmark tool An official will also be released at a later date to help players optimize graphics settings on PC.
Latest Trailer: Mount Oe and the Oni Warrior's Transformation
The latest trailer features Mount Oe, a new location outside Kyoto where the colossal Genma who claims to be a Shuten Doji legendary for building his base. Protagonist Miyamoto Musashi using her supernatural speed and strength to penetrate the Genma fortress' defenses.
The finale of the trailer shows Musashi utilizing all of his power to transform and fully awaken as Oni Warrior-a moment that was a major highlight of the showcase.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword available in three editions:
- Standard Edition ($69.99 / £64.99 / €79.99 / ¥8,990): Game + pre-order bonus (Charm: Lion Dog, Sword Appearance: Sealed Curse)
- Deluxe Edition ($79.99 / £74.99 / €89.99 / ¥9,990): Game + Deluxe Kit containing 7 sword appearances, 5 charms, and a Red Armor outfit for Musashi
- Premium Deluxe Edition ($89.99 / £84.99 / €99.99 / ¥10,990): All Deluxe + Premium Kit content with outfits for allied characters and mini digital soundtrack
Standard Edition is available physically and digitally, while Deluxe and Premium Deluxe are only available digitally.
Onimusha Franchise Revival
Onimusha: Way of the Sword marks the return of the franchise Onimusha after a long hiatus. The final game in the series, Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams, released in 2005. Using Miyamoto Musashi as the protagonist and the rich setting of feudal Japan, Capcom seems to want to introduce the franchise to a new generation of players while satisfying longtime fans who have been waiting for the continuation of the series.
