Pikachu in a batik shirt will greet Pokemon GO trainers at DeliPark Mall Medan on April 25-27, 2025, in a series of events. Pikachu's Indonesia Journey is back to celebrate community spirit. After its success in various major cities, the event is set to deliver a cross-cultural experience that brings together gaming communities with local characteristics.
Why Medan is the destination city for Pikachu's Indonesia Journey
Medan is the fifth city in the series Pikachu's Indonesia Journey after Bali, Surabaya, Yogyakarta, and Jakarta. The city was chosen because it has a very active Pokemon GO community, with more than 1,141 trainers recorded as active players.
According to Refael Siregar, Niantic, Inc.'s APAC Lead of Emerging Markets, "We saw tremendous enthusiasm from Trainers when we held our Pikachu's Indonesia Journey series last year. The reception we received proved that the Pokemon GO community in Indonesia is very active, solid, and growing. Therefore, this year we want to reach out to more of our Trainer friends in more areas."
Via Pikachu's Indonesia JourneyNiantic seeks to get closer to local communities in various regions. Medan was chosen as a key city in Sumatra that has significant and strong community growth potential.
Pikachu's Indonesia Journey Activity in Medan
Events Pikachu's Indonesia Journey in Medan will take place for three days, starting from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm every day. The event is open to the public and does not require admission.
Various activities have been prepared for visitors, including:
- Meet & Greet with Pikachu in batik shirt, complete with parades and dance performances (Dance Show)
- Official Pokemon merchandise boothwith various Indonesian-themed collections
- Kids Carnival Zonea place where children can play and interact
- In-game activitiessuch as Timed Research and Collection Challenge which are only available during the event.
- Pokemon TCG tutorial classfor visitors who want to get to know the official card game
- Pokemon GO Powerbank Station, to charge the device during play
With these various activities, Pikachu's Indonesia Journey presents a community space that supports cross-age interaction, while providing a comfortable and fun play experience.
Special Collection of Pikachu in Batik Shirt
One of the main highlights of the event was the appearance of Pikachu in a batik shirt, both in the live event and as a catchable Pokemon in the game. This version is a special edition that is only available during the event in selected cities.
This edition was first introduced in Pikachu's Indonesia Journey last year and instantly became a community favorite. Pikachu in a batik shirt symbolizes the collaboration between Indonesia's cultural identity and the world of Pokemon.
After Medan, Pikachu's Indonesia Journey will continue to Bekasi, Bandung, Semarang, and Palembang. This gives communities in other cities the opportunity to experience a similar atmosphere and gain access to exclusive content not available outside of the event series.

Pikachu's Indonesia Journey is an initiative by Niantic, Inc. to strengthen relationships with the Pokemon GO community in various parts of Indonesia. Last year, more than 30,000 visitors attended this series of events in three cities.
