Speculation about the Witcher world is buzzing again after an analyst from Poland predicted that there will be new DLC for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in 2026. This rumor immediately attracted attention because it was said to be a bridge to The Witcher 4, which fans have long awaited.

Analyst Predictions: Paid DLC and Target Release

In the report quoted by Polish media, Noble Securities analyst Mateusz Chrzanowski expects CD Projekt to release paid DLC for The Witcher 3 in May 2026. Chrzanowski projects:

  • DLC costs around 30 US dollars
  • Estimated sales of about 11 million copies
  • Estimated production cost of approximately PLN 52 million (approximately US$14.5 million)

He also predicts The Witcher 4 will launch in the fourth quarter of 2027. This projection has not been confirmed by CD Projekt, but business-wise and development schedule-wise, it seems quite reasonable.

Why this rumor makes sense

The Witcher 3 has now sold over 60 million copies worldwide. With such a large player base, a DLC purchase rate of 15-20 percent is enough to generate huge revenue. For example, 10 million copies of DLC at 30 dollars would mean hundreds of millions of dollars in additional revenue.

The game is also still active on Steam with a stable position in the Top 100 most-played and top-selling lists. Periodic discounts help attract new players, while returning players often return to re-enjoy Geralt's story. This makes new DLC seem logical as a way to inject fresh content while keeping attention on the Witcher series.

This rumor feels even stronger because previously leaker Borys Nieśpielak has mentioned several times that there is Witcher 3 DLC being worked on by Fool's Theory studio. The studio is also working on a remake of the first The Witcher and is led by former The Witcher 2 and 3 quest designer Jakub Rokosz, who knows the Witcher characters and world well.

Patch 2026 and Its Relationship to The Witcher 4

CD Projekt has announced plans to release one more patch for The Witcher 3 in 2026. Some fans suspect this patch is simply a technical update, while others speculate it's related to larger content, including possible DLC.

If the new DLC does arrive, it has the potential to be a story bridge to The Witcher 4. The developers could close some of Geralt's storylines while setting the stage for Ciri's adventures, which are expected to be the focus of the new trilogy. For now, everything is still limited to predictions and rumors, so expectations should be kept reasonable while waiting for official information from CD Projekt.
