Within the Villainess was officially announced to be coming as a TV anime in 2027. Kadokawa also revealed the initial details for this adaptation, from the main cast, production staff, to visuals and promotional videos.
Anime This is based on the Light Novel by Makiburo with illustrations by Mai Murasaki. This title also has a Manga adaptation by Nazuna Shiraume.
Within the Villainess Showtime
Kadokawa confirmed that Within the Villainess will air in anime TV format in 2027. As of now, there is no additional information regarding the airing month, cour, or viewing platform.
This latest announcement is also accompanied by a promotional video and main visuals. In the same announcement, Kadokawa also confirmed the anime's official English title, which is Within the Villainess.
This information follows Ichijinsha's previous announcement in June last year. At that time, the anime project for this title was announced.
Synopsis of Within the Villainess
The story of Within the Villainess begins with Emi, an otome game fan who died in a car accident. After that, she was reincarnated into the body of Remilia, a villainess character from one of the otome games she had played.
Emi was very fond of Remilia. Therefore, she tried to change the storyline that was supposed to lead Remilia to destruction.
The situation changes when Emi learns that Star Maiden, the game's predestined heroine, also has the soul of another person reincarnated inside her body. That person moves for his own purposes.
The Star Maiden then turned everyone against Remilia. Those people included the prince who was Remilia's fiancé.
After facing this rejection, Emi's consciousness began to fade. At that point, Remilia, who had remained inside her body and knew everything that happened, took back control of her.
After learning of Emi's affection for her, Remilia decided to avenge the Star Maiden and the prince for hurting Emi.

Kadokawa also announced the main staff lineup for the anime. Within the Villainess animation production is handled by ROLL2 studio, while Infinite is listed as the anime production party.

Yoshihisa Iida was previously recognized through his credits as episode director for Princess Connect! Re:Dive, If Her Flag Breaks, and Absolute Duo.
Hiroyuki Yoshino is responsible for writing and supervising series scripts. He is known for his involvement in Strike the Blood, World Trigger, and Macross Frontier.
Reiko Nagasawa has been involved in Frieren: Beyond Journey's End and takt op. Destiny.
Shuji Katayama is known for his music in Saga of Tanya the Evil and Overlord.
For the main cast lineup, the two names that have already been announced are:
- Miyuki Sawashiro as Remilia Rose Graupner
- Rie Takahashi as Emi

About Within the Villainess
Before getting an anime adaptation, Within the Villainess first arrived as a web novel. Makiburo released the full main story on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website in May 2020.
After the main story was completed, Makiburo continued to write side stories. The latest side story update was recorded in June 2025.
The light novel version is published by Ichijinsha with illustrations by Mai Murasaki. The series has had two print volumes published in February 2021 and February 2024.
Manga adaptation by Nazuna Shiraume began publishing on pixiv Comic in November 2021. Ichijinsha published the sixth and final compilation volume on June 25.
Along with the announcement of the anime's TV adaptation, Mai Murasaki and Nazuna Shiraume also released celebratory illustrations.
