The Cat and the Dragon's latest update focuses on a second promo video and new key visuals. Along with that, anime is also confirmed to air in July 2026.
For an overview of the story, The Cat and the Dragon introduces the tale of a dragon raised by cats, the cats themselves, and humans connecting in a warm, but also slightly somber bond. This story direction is the main basis shown in the anime's official introduction.
With this approach, The Cat and the Dragon puts the relationship between the characters at the center of the story. Not only between the dragon and the cats, but also their relationship with the humans around them.
The second promo video and new key visuals are an important part of this update as they both come along with the anime airing information. These details give a clearer picture of how the anime is being introduced ahead of its airing.

Production Staff and Voiceover
In addition to the new trailer and visuals, The Cat and the Dragon also reveals the main staff lineup handling the anime.

Jin-Koo Oh handles this anime as Director. Mitsutaka Hirota is in charge of Series Scripts. For Character Design, the role is held by Rie Nishino and Chiaki Kurakazu.
In the audio department, the anime's music is done by Takahiro Obata. The Sound Director position is filled by Noriyoshi Konuma. The anime production itself is handled by OLM.
This latest announcement also adds three new names to the voice cast. These additions complete the previously announced cast list for this anime.

The last three names are the new additions in this update. Atsumi Tanezaki is Gally, Chika Anzai is Anne Rossa, and Junya Enoki is Stan.
About The Cat and the Dragon
The Cat and the Dragon (Neko to Ryuu) comes from a novel by Amara. The title first started as a web novel on the Shosetsuka ni Naro platform in September 2013.
A light novel version was later published by Takarajimasha starting April 2016. The first volume comes in hardcover format with illustrations by Mai Okuma.
The 9th volume of the light novel shipped on November 26. The series has also surpassed the 1 million copy sales mark.
In addition to the novel, The Cat and the Dragon also received a manga adaptation by Izumi Sasaki. The manga was launched on Kono Manga ga Sugoi! web in September 2017.
The manga serialization also runs on Manga Box from April 2020. The manga's 12th compilation volume shipped in Japan on November 21.
With an adaptation path from web novel to light novel, manga, and then TV anime, The Cat and the Dragon is now moving to the next stage with more details starting to be revealed. The anime is scheduled to start in July 2026.
