BLADE & BASTARD has officially unveiled a new teaser trailer, the main staff, and the TV anime’s broadcast schedule for 2027. This adaptation is based on the light novel by Kumo Kagyu, with illustrations by so-bin—two names known for Goblin Slayer and Overlord.

Showcase the Dark Fantasy Atmosphere Through the Teaser Trailer
The first teaser trailer showcases the dark atmosphere that defines the series. The story centers on Iarumas, a character found dead in an unexplored area of the dungeon. After being resurrected, he loses all memory of his life before his death.
Since then, Iarumas has been exploring the dungeon to retrieve the bodies of fallen adventurers. Those who have died still have a chance of being resurrected, but there is also the risk of being turned to ash on the altar. Iarumas continues to do this work for the finder’s fee he receives, even though his attitude keeps him at a distance from those around him.
The story takes a turn when he meets Garbage, a rogue swordsman who is the sole survivor of a group that was massacred. Together with Garbage, Iarumas ventures deeper into the dungeon in search of clues about his past, while facing monsters, traps, and the threat of permanent death.
The story of BLADE & BASTARD is set in the world of Wizardry. Wizardry itself is known as a classic RPG franchise featuring a harsh and dangerous fantasy dungeon setting, and that element is also strongly evident in the teaser that has been released.

BLADE & BASTARD is based on a light novel by Kumo Kagyu and so-bin, which began publication in December 2022 under the DRE Novels imprint of Drecom Media. The title of the first volume is Blade & Bastard: Warm Ash, Dusky Dungeon.
The franchise later expanded into a manga adaptation. As of March 2026, the light novel series has reached its sixth volume, while the manga series has reached its eighth volume.
